About Desirée Livinsky, MD
Dr. Desirée Livinsky is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in the treatment of mood, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders, with particular expertise in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), panic disorder, major depressive disorder, binge eating disorder, bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Dr. Livinsky earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Biology from SUNY Stony Brook and worked as a 911 New York City EMT-B before completing Columbia University’s Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program. She went on to earn her medical degree from the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell in New York, graduating in 2019. She completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Pennsylvania, where she was honored with the Medical Student Teaching Award and received advanced training through Penn’s Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety. There, she trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) protocols for OCD and anxiety disorders, and also completed Penn’s Psychotherapy Certificate Program.
Since 2023, Dr. Livinsky has served as an outpatient attending psychiatrist at the University of Pennsylvania’s Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic, where she also supervises and trains psychiatry residents. Her unique experience in treating patients from both therapeutic and medication management perspectives allows her to provide nuanced, individualized care, particularly for those navigating complex anxiety and mood conditions.
My Approach
My therapeutic approach to treatment blends a psychodynamic style with collaborative decision-making, working closely with patients to develop treatment plans that honor both medical expertise and individual values. Drawing on my training in both psychotherapy and evidence-based treatments, I offer a comprehensive perspective on care and medication management, when appropriate.

Genetic testing can help to give us further insight into what medications would be an ideal match for your genetic profile. Genetic testing is completed by taking a cheek swab which will then be analyzed via Genomind.

During our 15 minute complementary telephone consultation, I will ask a few questions to determine if we are compatible. If so, we will proceed with scheduling an intake session.
